Choosing a Web Host
The first step is to take action now and choose a Web Host. There are many hosting companies out there, but if you want to easily start a WordPress site, you should consider Bluehost. It is the ONLY web hosting service recommended by WordPress. Why choose BlueHost? Here are just a few more reasons:
- Great customer service, reliability and usability
- Easy-to-use control panel that anyone can understand
- Custom-built web servers that provide a reliable hosting environment
- Easy one-click WordPress install
- The best technical support provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- You get unlimited websites, email accounts, and domains
- A 30-day money back guarantee and you can cancel at any time.
If you sign up through this tutorial, you’ll get a special offer of shared hosting at $3.95/month for 36 months. They will even throw in a free domain name for a year!
Set Up Your Hosting Account
Next, choose a domain name for your site. If you already own a domain name you can enter it here. If you don’t already have a domain name you can purchase one from right in the sign up process.
Once you have filled out the domain name information then you must complete your personal information. It is really easy to start the process just “Sign Up Now.”
Choosing a Theme
The theme of your website is how the site looks online. It is the skin and look of your website and is the personality of your blog. When you first create your WordPress website you can choose from many free themes. You merely click a few buttons on your WordPress dashboard and you can change the theme and look of your website. The free themes are OK to use but they do not offer much flexibility in designing your blog. We have tried to use free themes on and off through the years to get a blog up and going. It did not work well for us because they did not look very professional.
