Winnebago Trend 23L Rear Bed Collapsed
Our Winnebago Trend 23L rear bed collapsed. We have had our Winnebago Trend 23L for about a year and a half. We enjoy the RV, but there have been a few quality control issues that Winnebago Industries should take care of on future models they build. Kim and I stayed at the Sibley State Park in Minnesota last weekend. We spent the day hiking. Since I was tired I laid down on the rear corner bed to go to sleep. When I woke up in the morning, I felt the bed collapse down several inches below me. I lifted up the mattress and discovered that the wooden platform bed frame had broken. The frame had been held together just by a few staples and glue. I weigh 170 pounds so this should not have collapsed under my weight.
We are not the first Trend owners who have had this problem. If you have a Trend, be sure to inspect the area under the bed. You can watch the video I made showing how I fixed the area of the bed that broke. You simply need to buy some 1.5″ wood screws and wood glue.
We are the administrators of the Winnebago Viva-Trend Facebook Group. Other owners of the Trend have said they have had the same issue. If you own a Trend or are thinking about buying one, we highly suggest you join the Facebook Group.
Watch the Video to see how I fixed the bed.
